Project : Volunteering project - Conservation of historic dry-stone walls and reconstruction of a historic path system.
In Weimar, Germany, this project with the European Heritage Volunteers revolved around the conservation of historic dry-stone walls and reconstruction of a historic path system at Belvedere Palace, based on a series of historic plans. The team was tasked with sourcing suitable stones and clay, categorisation of these building materials by size, dismantling parts of the damaged areas and rebuilding the wall, led by an experienced technical instructor. Part of the works also included clearing out the plants, moss, and small roots from the stone stairs in the garden, where the aim was to reshape the garden according to historic plans of the site.
